Bread from scratch
It looks like more and more people would like to learn hand craft that can be useful and later passed on to their children and grandchildren. Lots of interest in bread baking from scratch with ingredients that you always have on your kitchen: flour, salt, dry yeast and water. The smell of homemade bread is very inviting and warming to your family, and you can learn how to surprise your close ones and friends with your tasty loaf.
This workshop given by Rise Up Bakery chef baker Jim Haas will be a good source of knowledge for the amateur and aspiring bakers

– Bread overview
– Flours, and how they differ
– Yeasted vs sourdough bread
– Bakers’s math
– Making simple “straight dough” breads
– Fermentation methods
– Kneading technique
– Forming technics: pre-shaping, bench rest, final form
– Scoring (slashing) loaves: how and why
– Equipment/accessories needed for home bread baking
– Storing
